Pagers

A pager is a small, handheld device that displays text-only messages on a small screen via a wireless network. Pagers accept incoming messages only and cannot be used to transmit messages. Pager subscriptions have been on the decline due to the widespread availability of mobile phones and their ability to send and receive text messages. Pagers still have many useful applications such as in restaurants to assist people waiting for tables to be cleared. There are sports pagers that broadcast scores. There are nursery pagers that can notify parents if they need to contact the nursery. In general, pagers should continue to decline in use as more consumers carry cell phones that have two way text message capability.
