Night Vision Goggles

Night vision goggles are designed primarily for military use and espionage. Most consumer night vision goggles are electro-optical devices that intensify, or amplify, existing light instead of relying on a light source of their own. Passive goggles pick up any light in the immediate area and amplify it several thousand times using an image intensifier. Active goggles project infrared light and produce an image from the light reflected back. Night vision optics are used not just in goggles but in rifle scopes, security cameras, monoculars and binoculars. A good pair of night vision goggles will run between $600 and $3,000 depending on the features. Some leading brands of night vision goggles include: Rigel Optics Night Vision, Night Owl Optics. Yukon Optics, N-Vision, Bushnell Night Vision, and Newcon Optik.
