Transducers

A transducer is a device, usually electrical, electronic, or electro mechanical, that converts one type of energy to another for various purposes including measurement or information transfer. Efficiency is an important consideration in any transducer. Transducer efficiency is defined as the ratio of the power output in the desired form to the total power input. In a broader sense, a transducer is sometimes defined as any device that converts a signal from one form to another. To select the transducer that's best suited to your needs, you need to consider the transducer's operating rating. Common examples include microphones, loudspeakers, thermometers, position and pressure sensors, and antenna.
