Temporo Mandibular Joint

Temporomandibular joint disorders, or TMJ disorders, are painful conditions involving the temporomandibular joint, where the temporal bone joins the lower jawbone. Some common symptoms of TMJ disorders include: Ear pain, sore jaw muscles, temple/cheek pain, jaw popping/clicking, locking of the jaw, difficulty in opening the mouth fully, frequent head/neck aches. In many patients, pain associated with the TMJ is a result of displacement of the cartilage disc that causes pressure on and stretching of of the associated sensory nerves.
