Stuttering

The term stuttering is most commonly associated with involuntary sound repetition, but it also encompasses the abnormal hesitation or pausing before speech, referred to by stutterers as blocks, and the prolongation of certain sounds. Some pediatricians tell parents to wait and see if a child outgrows stuttering on his or her own. Stuttering is a disorder that involves hesitation, repetition, or stumbling while speaking. Stuttering is also known as stammering in the United Kingdom.
