Neuropathy
Neuropathy typically describes a condition of damage to the peripheral nervous system. This is the network of nerves that transmits information from the brain and spinal cord to every other part of the body. A whole range of neuropathic conditions has been identified, each with its own set of symptoms, pattern of development, and prognosis. The type of impairment is a direct result of the types of nerves affected by the neuropathy. Some patients may experience numbness, tingling, touch sensitivity or muscle weakness. Other patients may suffer more extreme symptoms, including burning pain, muscle atrophy, paralysis, or dysfunction of one ore more organs or glands.
