Halitosis

Halitosis, or bad breath, is all too common. If you don't brush and floss daily, particles of food remain in the mouth, collecting bacteria, which can cause bad breath. Food that collects between the teeth, on the tongue and around the gums can rot, leaving an unpleasant odor. Halitosis is a very common condition caused by such things as oral dryness, stress, hunger, eating certain foods such as garlic and onions, smoking, or poor oral hygiene. Halitosis can also be one of the warning signs of periodontal (gum) disease. Two of the best ways to combat halitotis are to eliminate periodontal disease if you have it and maintain good oral health. Schedule regular dental visits for a professional cleaning and checkup. Good oral hygiene is essential to eliminating or reducing halitotis.
