A face lift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to improve sagging facial skin, jowls, and loose neck skin by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, and redraping skin. Facelifts provide a more youthful appearance by tightening facial skin, muscles and removing excess skin. A mini facelift is a minimally invasive technique involving only small incisions. During a face lift incisions are made in the hair line, temple region extending down in front of the ear and then around the back of the ear into the hairline. These incisions vary depending on the technique used by your plastic surgeon. Face lifts are most often performed on men and women over 40. Facelifts cost between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on the specific procedures chosen and where in the country the facelift is performed.
