DNA Testing
DNA testing is used to distinguish between individuals of the same species using only samples of their DNA which can be easily obtained from saliva or hair or blood. DNA Testing is used in forensic science, paternity testing, matching of organ donors, searching for genetic abnormalities, and a variety of other scientific purposes. Currently, more than 900 DNA tests are available from testing laboratories. One of the most popular uses of DNA testing is for paternity testing. Comparing the DNA sequence of an individual to that of another individual can show if one of them was derived from the other or not. If there is a question on who the father of a child is, then paternity testing should be done as soon as possible. It is expected that many more types of DNA testing will be available in the coming years with prices coming down and accuracy increasing.
