Diet Pills
There are two main types of diets pills, over the counter diet pills and prescription diet pills. Other the counter diet pills contain a combination of medications, usually phenylpropanolamine and caffeine, which act to control appetite. Phenylpropanolamine is a central nervous system stimulant and has many effects on the body, one of which is to depress the desire to eat. Caffeine also has some limited appetite-suppressant properties. Prescription diet pills include: Adipex, Bontril, Didrex, Ionamin, Meridia, Phendimetrazine, Phentermine, Tenuate, and Xenical. These prescription diet pills act in various ways to suppress the appetite and stimulate the central nervous system. Diet and weight loss drugs or pills, whether prescription or over the counter weight loss supplements, are only effective when combined with a healthy diet and exercise plan.
