Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a compound found in the energy-producing center of the cell known as the mitochondria. CoQ10 is involved in the making of an important molecule known as ATP which serves as the cell's major energy source and drives a number of biological processes including muscle contraction and the production of protein. CoQ10 also works as an antioxidant. Levels of CoQ10 in the body can be increased by taking CoQ10 supplements. CoQ10 has been used, recommended, or studied for numerous conditions, but remains controversial as a treatment in many areas. This information on CoQ10 is for your information only and is not intended to substitute for the medical expertise and advice of your primary health care provider.
