Bedwetting
Bedwetting (or enuresis) is fairly common. Around 5 million children wet their bed and bedwetting is more common among boys than girls. More than twice as many boys as girls have bedwetting. Eenuresis is sometimes called involuntary urination. Nocturnal enuresis is involuntary urination that occurs at night. There are two kinds of bedwetting: primary and secondary. Primary nocturnal enuresis means the child has wet the bed since he or she was a baby. Secondary enuresis means the condition developed at least 6 months or more after a person learned to control his or her bladder. The emotional impact of enuresis on a child and family can be significant. Studies report feelings of embarrassment and anxiety, loss of self-esteem, and adverse effects on self-perception, interpersonal relationships, quality of life, and school performance.
